Before we can distribute written music of any type, permission from the copyright holder must be obtained. If you're not familiar with this process, don't worry! We are here to help guide you through the process. Selecting music should be fun and we'll do everything we can to help minimize any frustration with obtaining required copyright permissions/licenses.
-
How much does a license cost?
-
The price for obtaining a copyright license can range from gratis (rare) to several hundred dollars. However, most licenses are between $150-$300 per title. This fee is paid directly do the copyright holder (or license clearinghouse) by the client/organization and is in addition to arranging fees. Keep in mind that if you are licensing a medley with three titles, three licenses must be obtained.
-
How long does it take to obtain a license?
-
Some licenses are approved immediately while others can take several weeks. In some instances, permission cannot be obtained. For that reason, it's best to select and license arrangements well in advance of your desired delivery date.
-
When can I receive my arrangement?
-
After you select your arrangement(s), we will follow up with specific instructions regarding how to proceed. If you are familiar with the licensing process, PLEASE DO NOT PURCAHSE A LICENSE UNTIL AFTER YOU RECEIVE A WORK FOR HIRE AGREEMENT FROM ERIC VAN CLEAVE/LAFAYETTE MUSIC PRODUCTIONS.
Once permission is received and the license(s) and arrangement(s) are paid for, we can generally upload pre-arranged titles within one business day.
Again, please understand that we cannot distribute a musical arrangement prior to obtaining permission from the copyright holder.
